Electrical asset register template
The structure we use on real sites, as a spreadsheet you can open in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets. No email required, and it is yours whether or not you ever call us.
What is in it
Two sheets in one file: the item register, and a zones sheet where you record the reasoning behind each interval. The second one is the part auditors ask for and the part almost nobody has.

How to use it
- Delete the first three rows, which are just a header.
- Fill in the Zones block first. Zones drive intervals, so get them right before you record a single item.
- Walk the site zone by zone, completing one room before moving on.
- Give every item an ID that encodes site, building, zone and a sequence — and never encode the interval or the year, because both change.
- Fill the Reasoning column. A date with no justification is a number someone picked.
- Sort by Next due date to run the programme.
Own your data. This is a plain CSV on purpose. It opens anywhere, in ten years, without a licence, and it moves with you if you change provider. If your records currently live in someone else’s proprietary system, ask them what happens when you leave — the answer should be an unconditional export.
